About the University
Located in Suzhou, a renowned historical and cultural city known as "Paradise on Earth," Suzhou University of Science and Technology is a public university with a strong focus on engineering and coordinated development across multiple disciplines, including science, humanities, management, and arts. It was established through the merger of the former Suzhou Institute of Urban Construction and Environmental Protection and the former Suzhou Railway Teachers College, and is jointly established by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China and Jiangsu Province.
The University consists of three campuses — Shihu, Jiangfeng and Tianping — covering approximately 2,300 mu (about 153 hectares). It currently has more than 23,000 full-time undergraduate students and over 4,400 graduate students, including international students. It has been recognized as an outstanding institution in the Ministry of Education's Undergraduate Teaching Evaluation and is authorized to confer doctoral degrees.
Academic Excellence and Disciplinary Strengths
The University has developed a comprehensive academic structure covering 10 major disciplines, including engineering, science, literature, management, arts, philosophy, economics, education, history, and interdisciplinary studies, with three doctoral degree programs, 19 first-level master's degree programs, and 20 categories of professional master's degree programs. Through years of development, it has established distinctive strengths in urban and rural planning, environmental science and engineering, and civil engineering. Four disciplines — Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science and Environmental Ecology — have been ranked among the top 1% globally in the ESI database. Nineteen programs are recognized as National First-Class Undergraduate Programs and 20 selected for the Jiangsu Higher Education Institutions Brand Professional Development Program.
Faculty and Talent Development
Suzhou University of Science and Technology places great emphasis on talent development and has established a high-level faculty team, with one member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and more than 50 recipients of national-level talent programs, including National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars recipients and "Chang Jiang Scholars" Distinguished Professors. More than 600 faculty members have been selected for provincial-level talent programs, and the University has established 16 provincial- and ministerial-level research teams. Among its more than 900 faculty members with senior professional titles, over 1,080 hold doctoral degrees, with 79 doctoral supervisors and 883 master's supervisors. Since its establishment, the University has cultivated more than 200,000 graduates, and has been recognized as an incubator for urban planners, a cradle for engineers, and a training center for outstanding educators.
Research Innovation and Industry Collaboration
Committed to innovation-driven development and the integration of industry, academia, research and application, the University focuses on major national strategies such as ecological civilization, rural revitalization and the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region, actively engaging in advanced materials, electronic information, intelligent manufacturing, equipment engineering and artificial intelligence. It hosts more than 30 research platforms at the provincial level and above. Faculty members have received six National Science and Technology Progress Awards; over the past five years, the University has obtained nearly 320 national-level research projects and more than 60 provincial- and ministerial-level research awards, publishing in journals such asNature and producing numerous ESI Highly Cited Papers. Several faculty members have been recognized as "Highly Cited Researchers" by Clarivate and Elsevier, and many included in the "World's Top 2% Scientists" list.
International Cooperation and Global Engagement
Suzhou University of Science and Technology actively promotes international cooperation and has established partnerships with more than 100 universities and research institutions across over 30 countries and regions. Since 1993, it has annually undertaken international human resources training programs sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce of China, providing professional training and educational opportunities for more than 3,000 government officials and technical professionals from over 130 countries along the Belt and Road and other developing countries, particularly in environmental protection, energy and logistics. In 2015, the University became one of the first in China authorized to undertake overseas assistance master's degree education programs, and participates in international alliances including the Alliance of Chinese and African Universities and the China-Belarus University Alliance.

About the School
Established in June 2020, the School of Geography Science and Geomatics Engineering at Suzhou University of Science and Technology was formed through the integration of the Department of Geography and Resources Science and the Department of Spatial Information and Surveying Engineering, formerly part of the School of Environmental Science and Engineering. The academic history of the School can be traced back to the Department of Geography established in the 1980s at the former Suzhou Railway Teachers College. The School currently consists of four teaching units — the Department of Surveying Engineering, the Department of Geographic Information Science, the Department of Geography, and the Department of Land Resources and Regional Planning — as well as an Experimental Center.
Academic Programs and Student Development
The School offers four undergraduate programs: Surveying Engineering, Geographic Information Science, Human Geography and Urban-Rural Planning, and Geography (Teacher Education). The Surveying Engineering program has obtained international engineering education accreditation and passed the evaluation for Jiangsu Province First-Class Undergraduate Program Development in 2025; Surveying Engineering and Geographic Information Science have been recognized as university-level brand programs since 2023. The School is authorized to offer master's degree education in Resources and Environment (Surveying Engineering) and currently has more than 1,200 full-time undergraduate and graduate students.
Faculty and Academic Strengths
The School has 73 faculty and staff members, including 58 full-time faculty members — 10 professors and 21 associate professors, with senior academic and professional titles accounting for 53.4% of the faculty. A total of 56 faculty members hold doctoral degrees, representing 96.6% of the full-time faculty. The School has 38 master's and doctoral supervisors (66% of the faculty), and 23 faculty members have overseas study or visiting research experience. The faculty includes three recipients of the Jiangsu Province "333 Talent Project" Academic and Technical Leader Program, one Jiangsu Provincial Teaching Master, one Jiangsu Provincial Outstanding Young Scholar, one recipient of the Jiangsu Province "Six Talent Peaks" Program, and one young and middle-aged academic leader under the Jiangsu Province "Qinglan Project."
Research Platforms and Infrastructure
The School has established several provincial- and municipal-level research platforms, including the Jiangsu Industrial Technology Engineering Center for Urban Intelligent Remote Sensing and Digitalization of Ancient Cities, the Jiangsu Engineering Research Center for Modern Surveying and Mapping Instrument Technology, the Suzhou Surveying and Mapping Instrument Testing Service Center, and the Suzhou Key Laboratory of Intelligent Spatial Information Technology and Applications. It has 1,510 square meters of laboratory space and operates two field practice and training bases — the Suzhou Shangfang Mountain Field Practice Base and the Suzhou Xishan Taihu Mingyue Bay Piaomiao Peak Field Practice Base — plus industry-education integration practice bases with more than 20 enterprises. Equipment and fixed assets exceed RMB 12 million, including DJI UAVs, DJI Zenmuse L1 LiDAR sensors, oblique photography five-lens cameras, GOSLAM RS100i handheld 3D laser scanners, Leica SL15 high-precision digital levels and dual-channel portable field spectrometers. The School operates the national-level "China Suzhou Shangfang Mountain Length Standard Baseline" (No. 64, 800 m) and an indoor 41 m length standard calibration baseline.
Research Achievements and Social Contribution
In recent years, faculty members have undertaken more than 30 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, over 50 provincial-, ministerial-, municipal- and institutional-level research projects, and more than 130 industry-supported research projects, with total research funding exceeding RMB 30 million. The School has published more than 370 high-level academic papers, authored over 10 academic monographs, obtained more than 20 authorized invention patents (including patents granted in developed countries), and received the Second Prize of the National Geographic Information Science and Technology Progress Award. It has established strong foundations for applied research in urban-rural integration, ecological planning, rural planning, remote sensing and GIS applications.
Student Innovation and Talent Cultivation
Over the past five years, more than 200 undergraduate students have participated in faculty-led research projects and scientific competitions (a participation rate of 25.5%), undertaking more than 50 provincial- and university-level research projects. Graduate students supervised by the School have received 15 provincial-level innovation project awards and published more than 60 academic papers. Students have won nearly 100 awards at various levels, including the Grand Prize in the National College Students' Surveying and Mapping Science and Technology Thesis Competition, the First Prize in the National College Students' Land and Spatial Planning Skills Competition, and the First Prize in the National College Students' Natural Resources Science and Technology Works Competition. Graduates have been admitted to or recommended for postgraduate study at leading universities including Nanjing University, Wuhan University, Tongji University, Southeast University, East China Normal University, King's College London, the University of Sydney and the University of Manchester.

About the School
The School of Civil Engineering and Geomatics at Southwest Petroleum University originated from the Industrial and Civil Construction program established in 1988. Over the past decades, the School has continuously pursued excellence by focusing on talent cultivation as its core mission, disciplinary development as its driving force, and faculty and infrastructure development as essential support, committed to becoming a teaching and research-oriented school with "domestic first-class quality, international recognition and distinctive characteristics."
Academic Programs and Disciplinary Development
The School offers three undergraduate programs at the Chengdu Campus — Civil Engineering, Surveying Engineering and Engineering Management — all recognized as National First-Class Undergraduate Program Development Projects and Sichuan Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Programs. It also manages three undergraduate programs at the Nanchong Campus, including Urban and Rural Planning, Engineering Cost, and Building Environment and Energy Application Engineering, with the latter recognized as a Sichuan Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Program. The Civil Engineering program is a pilot program for the Sichuan Province Outstanding Engineer Education and Training Program and one of the first application-oriented demonstration programs in Sichuan. The School offers doctoral education in Surveying Engineering, Structural Safety Engineering and Management Science and Engineering, master's degree programs in Civil Engineering and Surveying Science and Technology, and professional master's programs in Civil Engineering, Resources and Environment (Surveying Engineering), and Engineering Management (MEM). Structural Engineering is a key discipline of Sichuan Province.
Faculty and Talent Development
The School has 145 faculty and staff members, including 115 full-time faculty members — 17 professors, 44 associate professors, 7 doctoral supervisors and 76 master's supervisors. It has established several high-level academic teams, including the Sichuan Provincial Teaching Team for Civil Engineering Core Disciplines, two Sichuan Provincial Youth Science and Technology Innovation Teams, and one Youth Science and Technology Innovation Team of Universities in Sichuan Province. The faculty includes 29 recipients of provincial- and ministerial-level talent programs and honors, including experts receiving the State Council Special Allowance, Sichuan Provincial Academic and Technical Leaders, Outstanding Experts with Significant Contributions to Sichuan Province, Sichuan Tianfu Talent Program members, specially appointed experts under the Sichuan Thousand Talents Program, and Sichuan Emei Scholars.
Research Platforms and Infrastructure
The School has established a number of provincial and industry-level research and teaching platforms, including the Sichuan Engineering Technology Research Center for Gas Safety and Efficient Utilization, the Sichuan Engineering Technology Research Center for Intelligent Monitoring of Engineering Safety, the Tibet Key Laboratory of Satellite Remote Sensing and Applications, the Key Laboratory of Oil and Gas Field Surveying and Remote Sensing Information Technology of the Petroleum and Chemical Industry, and the Sichuan Provincial University Key Laboratory of Structural Engineering. Other platforms include the Institute of Engineering Safety Assessment and Protection, the Research Center for Structural Safety Engineering, the Institute of Oil and Gas Spatial Information Engineering, the Research Center for Surveying, Remote Sensing, Geographic Information and Disaster Emergency Response, the Experimental Teaching Demonstration Center and the Virtual Simulation Center. The School has more than 6,300 square meters of laboratory space, with research and teaching equipment valued at over RMB 48 million.
Teaching Excellence and Talent Cultivation
Over the past five years, the School has undertaken 12 Sichuan Provincial Education Reform Projects (including one key project), one education reform project approved by the Ministry of Education's Steering Committee for Engineering Management Education, and 29 industry-academia collaborative education projects supported by the Ministry of Education. Faculty members have contributed to one First Prize of the National Teaching Achievement Award and two First Prizes of Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards; the School has independently received two Second Prizes of Sichuan Provincial Teaching Achievement Awards and two teaching achievement awards from national academic organizations. It has developed one National First-Class Undergraduate Course, seven Sichuan Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Courses, one provincial demonstration course for curriculum ideological and political education, one provincial advanced-level course, and one provincial exemplary case. It has published eight textbooks, including one provincial-level planned textbook, and had 18 approved as university-level planned textbook projects. Faculty members have won one First Prize and five Second Prizes in the National University Surveying Discipline Teaching Innovation and Talent Cultivation Competition, along with multiple awards in national business education practice teaching competitions.
International Cooperation and Student Development
The School actively promotes international academic exchange and has established research collaborations with renowned universities and institutions in countries and regions including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Israel and Hong Kong, China. Over the past five years, six faculty members have participated in overseas visiting scholar programs, and 25 graduates have pursued master's or doctoral degrees at internationally recognized universities including the University of Edinburgh, the University of Southampton and King's College London. Students have won a total of 26 national-level Grand Prizes, 28 First Prizes, 57 Second Prizes and 40 Third Prizes in national university discipline competitions. Since its establishment, the School has cultivated and delivered more than 8,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Upholding the spirit of "Originating from Petroleum, Serving Society, and Creating the Future," the School continues to build upon more than 30 years of academic and cultural development.

About the School
The School of Surveying and Geo-Informatics at Shandong Jianzhu University originated from the Department of Engineering Surveying, established in 1956 under the former Department of Architectural Engineering. Over the past decades, the School has maintained a strong academic tradition and continued to develop through successive generations of faculty and students. It began enrolling undergraduate students in 2002; in 2008 the Department of Land Surveying and Information Engineering was established within the School of Civil Engineering, and the School of Surveying and Geo-Informatics was officially founded in June 2016.
Academic Programs and Disciplinary Development
The School currently offers three undergraduate programs: Surveying Engineering, Geographic Information Science, and Remote Sensing Science and Technology. The Surveying Engineering program was approved as a National First-Class Undergraduate Program Development Project in 2021 and has passed the Engineering Education Accreditation of the Ministry of Education of China. The Geographic Information Science program was approved as a Shandong Provincial First-Class Undergraduate Program Development Project in 2022, while the Remote Sensing Science and Technology program began enrolling students in 2020. The "Virtual Teaching and Research Center for Interdisciplinary Geographic Information Courses Integrating Science and Engineering" was selected as one of the first pilot virtual teaching and research centers by the Ministry of Education of China. The School has established a doctoral talent cultivation program under the national special-demand project of "Green Building," master's degree programs in Surveying Science and Technology, and a professional master's degree program in Surveying Engineering. The discipline has been included in the "2025 Best Chinese Disciplines Ranking" released by ShanghaiRanking. Committed to serving national strategies and regional development, the School established the Shandong Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center for Smart Cities in 2021, became the leading institution of the Shandong Urban Renewal Association in 2023, and was approved in 2026 as a featured advantageous discipline of higher education institutions in Shandong Province: "Smart City Science and Engineering." The discipline hosts eight provincial- and ministerial-level research platforms, including the Key Laboratory of Building Structure Strengthening and Underground Space Engineering of the Ministry of Education and the Shandong Engineering Technology Research Center for Digital Cities and Intelligent Buildings.
Faculty and Academic Leadership
The School leads the development of the Shandong Provincial Advantageous and Characteristic Discipline of "Smart City Science and Engineering." It currently has 67 full-time faculty members and has established a tiered academic structure featuring "academician leadership, backbone faculty support, and young scholar development." The discipline is led by distinguished scholars, including Professor Jin Fengxiang, Foreign Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences and one of the first recipients of the National "New Century Hundred-Thousand-Ten Thousand Talent Project," and Professor Zhu Qing, recipient of the Ministry of Education's "Chang Jiang Scholars" Distinguished Professor Program. The School has 19 professors and 25 associate professors forming the core of teaching and research, including 10 doctoral supervisors and 55 master's supervisors covering all major disciplinary directions. It has a strong young academic team with 100% of young scholars holding doctoral degrees, and currently has four national-level leading talents and seven provincial-level or above talent award recipients.
Teaching Excellence and Research Innovation
Over the past five years, the discipline has received six provincial- and ministerial-level teaching awards, including the First Prize of the Shandong Provincial Teaching Achievement Award. Faculty members have won the First Prize in the Shandong Provincial University Teachers' Teaching Innovation Competition, the Special Prize in the National Young Faculty Teaching Competition for Surveying and Mapping Disciplines, and four Special Prizes in the National GIS Young Faculty Teaching Competition; the School has also undertaken four key provincial teaching reform projects. In research, the School has published more than 800 academic papers over the past five years, including over 500 high-level papers indexed by SCI and EI, published seven textbooks and academic monographs, undertaken 30 national-level research projects and completed 47 provincial- and ministerial-level research projects, obtaining more than RMB 110 million in research funding from government and industry sources. Faculty members have received numerous awards, including the First and Second Prizes of the Shandong Provincial Science and Technology Progress Award and multiple awards from the Chinese Society for Geodesy, Photogrammetry and Cartography.
Student Development and Talent Cultivation
The School currently has 1,127 full-time undergraduate and graduate students. Over the past five years, students have won 175 national-level awards and 195 provincial-level awards in national university science and technology competitions, as well as seven provincial First and Second Prizes in competitions such as the "Challenge Cup" and the China International College Students' Innovation Competition. The "Qingxin Huguan" Volunteer Service Team was recognized by the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China and selected as one of the Top 100 Outstanding Volunteer Teams nationwide. The postgraduate admission rate of graduates has remained above 45%, with many continuing their studies at leading universities and research institutions including Wuhan University, Beihang University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and prestigious universities in the United Kingdom, the United States and Hong Kong, China. Building upon decades of academic heritage and innovation, the School remains committed to advancing surveying, geographic information science, remote sensing and smart city technologies.
